Designed as an alternative to spot blasting, it enables efficient removal of coatings, rust, and contaminants without the drawbacks associated with traditional blasting methods.
The kit includes an Ex-certified Fuji angle grinder (A-0108) and the Rough Boy carbide grinding wheel (A-0010), one of Safety Tools Allmet’s most effective tools for treating larger surfaces and pipelines. Manufactured from solid tungsten carbide, the Rough Boy offers an exceptional service life of approximately 32,000 spots (5 x 5 cm). In addition, it creates an average surface profile of 45 microns, meeting the requirements of the SSPC-SP11 standard for mechanical surface preparation.
Thanks to its ATEX certification, the Rough Boy Solution can be safely used in ATEX gas zones 1 and 2 and dust zones 21 and 22. This eliminates the need for hot work permits, fire watches, habitats, and costly shutdowns, helping operators improve both safety and efficiency.
