Introducing the new A-0311 Water Control Box: designed for safer and more efficient ATEX cutting Operations

Performing cutting and weld removal tasks in hazardous areas presents unique challenges. In industries such as offshore, petrochemical, energy, and industrial processing, traditional hot work methods often require extensive safety measures, permits, fire watches, and operational downtime.

This is why many companies rely on ATEX cutting solutions and spark-free tools that allow maintenance and modification work to be carried out safely in explosive atmospheres.

Why water control matters in ATEX cutting operations

A critical component of these systems is the controlled supply of water and compressed air. Water plays an essential role in cooling the cutting process, reducing heat generation, providing lubrication, and supporting safe cold work operations. Without a reliable water and air management system, the efficiency and safety of hazardous area cutting operations can be compromised.

To support these demanding applications, Allmet Safety Tools has developed and continuously improved its Water Control Box technology.

What Is the Water Control Box?

The Water Control Box is an integral part of Allmet’s ATEX cutting and weld removal systems. It regulates the supply of

water and compressed air to the cutting equipment, ensuring consistent and reliable operation during maintenance activities in hazardous environments.

The system is used in conjunction with Allmet’s cutting and weld removal solutions, enabling operators to perform cold work in areas where traditional hot work methods may not be practical or permitted.

By controlling the flow of water and air, the Water Control Box helps:

  • Support safe cold work operations
  • Cool cutting and weld removal discs
  • Improve cutting performance
  • Reduce wear on consumables
  • Enhance operational reliability
  • Improve operator efficiency in the field

For maintenance teams working in ATEX-classified environments, reliable water control is not simply a convenience. It is a critical part of the overall cutting solution.

Introducing the new A-0311 Water Control Box

Safety Tools Allmet is pleased to introduce the A-0311 Water Control Box, the next generation of water and air regulation technology for ATEX cutting operations.

The A-0311 replaces the previous A-0310 model and has been developed to address practical challenges experienced during daily field operations. While the previous model remains fully supported, the new version offers significant improvements in portability, usability and maintenance.

The development focus was clear: create a solution that is easier to transport, faster to deploy and simpler to maintain without compromising performance or reliability.

The result is a Water Control Box that better meets the needs of modern maintenance teams operating in demanding industrial environments.

Key benefits for field operations

Significantly reduced weight

One of the most noticeable improvements is the reduction in operating weight.

The previous A-0310 Water Control Box weighed 17 kg. The new A-0311 weighs only 4 kg, representing a reduction of more than 75%.

For technicians working offshore, in refineries, or at large industrial sites, every kilogram matters. A lighter system is easier to transport between work locations, simpler to carry up ladders and structures, and less physically demanding during daily operations.

More compact design

The A-0311 has also been redesigned with a much smaller footprint.

Dimensions have been reduced from 38 × 25 × 37 cm to just 32 × 24 × 10 cm.

The compact design makes transportation easier and reduces storage requirements both on-site and in service vehicles. It also allows maintenance teams to work more efficiently in confined spaces where equipment accessibility is often limited.

Plug-and-play operation

Time spent setting up equipment is time not spent completing the job.

The A-0311 features a simplified plug-and-play design that enables faster deployment in the field. Fewer connection steps mean operators can get to work more quickly while reducing the risk of setup errors.

This contributes to improved productivity and smoother maintenance workflows.

Reduced maintenance requirements

Industrial maintenance teams are constantly looking for ways to minimise downtime and reduce equipment servicing requirements.

The upgraded design of the A-0311 requires less routine maintenance, helping organisations improve equipment availability and reduce time spent on service-related activities.

Improved user experience

Ease of use is often overlooked in industrial equipment design, yet it can have a major impact on operational efficiency.

The A-0311 features a more user-friendly layout that simplifies operation for both experienced technicians and new users. The intuitive design helps reduce training requirements and contributes to safer and more efficient operation in the field.

10-Year Warranty

To support long-term reliability, the A-0311 Water Control Box is supplied with a standard 10-year warranty, providing additional confidence for customers investing in ATEX maintenance equipment.

Importantly, while the design has been upgraded, the certification status remains unchanged. Both the A-0310 and A-0311 remain covered under the same DNV type examination certification, ensuring continued compliance and confidence for users operating in hazardous environments.

Supporting safer and more efficient ATEX maintenance

The launch of the A-0311 Water Control Box reflects Safety Tools Allmet’s commitment to continuous improvement and practical innovation.

By reducing weight, simplifying setup, lowering maintenance requirements and improving usability, the A-0311 helps maintenance teams work more efficiently while maintaining the high safety standards required for hazardous area cutting operations.

The new Water Control Box is now included as standard in new deliveries of Allmet’s cutting and weld removal solutions.

For companies involved in ATEX maintenance, hazardous area cutting, offshore maintenance and petrochemical maintenance, the A-0311 represents a practical step forward in operational efficiency and reliability.
